Segurança e Desenvolvimento: desafios para Portugal, Europa e África
Conferência Internacional Online | 24 e 25 de Maio
No contexto do projeto “Segurança humana e desenvolvimento nas relações UE-África: ODS, migrações e alterações climáticas”, co-financiado pelo Camões I.P, o Centro de Estudos Internacionais do Iscte (CEI-Iscte) e o Instituto da Defesa Nacional (IDN), promovem a conferência internacional “Segurança e Desenvolvimento: desafios para Portugal, Europa e África” nos dias 24 e 25 de maio de 2021.
Atendendo ao objetivo da Presidência Portuguesa do Conselho da União Europeia 2021 de impulsionar e fortalecer as relações entre a União Europeia e África, a conferência tem como objectivo contribuir para a produção de conhecimento e para o debate interdisciplinar e intersectorial sobre a integração das políticas nacionais e europeias de segurança humana e desenvolvimento e, no quadro destas, da securitização de questões relacionadas com migrações e alterações climáticas.
A sessão de abertura contará com a presença da Dra.Cristina Moniz, Vice-Presidente do Camões I.P, da Prof.Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, Reitora do Iscte–Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, do Prof.Luís Nuno Rodrigues, Diretor do CEI-Iscte e da Prof.Helena Carreiras, Diretora do Instituto da Defesa Nacional. Estará ainda, como keynote speaker, o Dr.Carlos Lopes, Alto Representante da União Africana para as Parcerias com a Europa.
Ao longo dos dois dias da conferência, serão promovidos 4 painéis temáticos online, “Segurança, defesa e desenvolvimento nas relações UE-África”, “Segurança, defesa e desenvolvimento na cooperação portuguesa com África”, “Migrações e segurança humana”, e “Alterações climáticas e segurança humana” que contarão com a presença de académicos e especialistas nacionais e internacionais, de áreas diversas.
A encerrar a conferência como keynote speaker estará presente a Drª Rita Laranjinha, diretora geral para África do Serviço de Ação Externa Europeu.
Será assegurada tradução simultânea PT-ENG e ENG-PT no decorrer de toda a conferência.

Security and Development: challenges for Portugal, Europe and Africa

In the context of the project “Human security and development in EU-Africa relations: SDGs, migration and climate change”, co-funded by Camões I.P, the Iscte Center for International Studies (CEI-Iscte) and the Institute of National Defence (IDN), promote the international conference “Security and Development: challenges for Portugal, Europe and Africa” on the 24th and 25th of May, 2021.
Having in mind the objective of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2021 to boost and strengthen relations between the European Union and Africa, the conference aims to contribute to the production of knowledge and to the interdisciplinary and intersectoral debate on the integration of national and European policies on human security and development and, in the framework of these, the securitization of issues related to migration and climate change.
The opening session will be attended by Dr. Cristina Moniz, Vice-President of Camões I.P, Prof. Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, Dean of Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Prof. Luís Nuno Rodrigues, Director of CEI-Iscte and Prof. Helena Carreiras, Director of the Instituto da Defesa Nacional. Dr. Carlos Lopes, African Union High Representative for Partnerships with Europe, will also be attending as keynote speaker.
Over the two days of the conference, 4 online thematic panels will be developed, “Security, defence and development in EU-Africa relations”, “Security, defence and development in the Portuguese cooperation with Africa”, “Migrations and human security”, and “Climate change and human security”, which will be attended by academics and national and international experts from different areas.
Closing the conference as keynote speaker will be Dr. Rita Laranjinha, Director General for Africa of the European External Action Service.
PT-ENG and ENG-PT simultaneous translation will be provided throughout the conference.
